Do you know an incredible teacher who is passionate about bringing Shakespeare to life for their students? Are you that teacher? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to share!
The Parr Shakespeare Center is accepting nominations and applications for the Parr Prize for Excellence in Teaching Shakespeare, which awards three exceptional Shakespeare teachers $10,000 every year along with an expenses-paid trip to the Celebration Reception and Dinner! Founded by philanthropist Gary Parr, along with a team of prominent Shakespeare scholars, the Parr Shakespeare Prize recognizes teachers who engage students through performance, multimedia, and innovative approaches to Shakespeare instruction. Parr, who credits his own 10th grade English teacher with inspiring this prize, has shared his belief in the importance of uplifting educators, saying, “Great teachers make Shakespeare accessible, relevant, and unforgettable”. Winners of the Parr Prize and a guest of their choosing will be invited to a historic location in Palm Beach, FL, where they will dine with other honored guests, view and discuss 17th century Shakespeare Folios, and accept their award.
To qualify, teachers must work at any public or private high school in the U.S. and have a minimum of three years teaching experience. Teachers must be nominated by someone familiar with their teaching and submit an application for consideration. Nominations should be submitted by July 30, 2025, and application materials are due no later than August 24, 2025. The winner will be announced by November 3, 2025, and the award celebration is scheduled for the weekend of January 17, 2026.
